At Cable Beach
Sightseeing in Broome
Sunset at Cable Beach
Dinner at Zanders at Cable Beach
We have bought bus tickets that will last us for our holiday so no need for a car and have stocked up on "nibbleys" for the fridge and will have happy hour on our balcony instead of in the bar. Friday is booked to do The Horizontal Falls, which is on both Barry & my "bucket list" and really looking forward to the experience. On Friday morning at 5.30am we were collected from our hotel and taken to the airport for the hour long flight out to Talbot Bay where the sea plane landed after doing a circle over the Falls.....spectacular. Then it was into a very high powered boat, apparently 2 x 600hp motors, and out to the Horizontal Falls to do a few runs through them, so exciting and an experience that we both absolutely loved. Wasn't able to do the smaller falls on the first trip so it was back to the houseboat for breakfast, bacon and eggs in rolls with juice and tea or coffee, and then onto a cruise up into Cyclone Creek which is where the boats are moored when the cyclones hit the area. Very picturesque and actually managed to see a crocodile sunning himself on the bank as we passed. Then it was back onto the houseboat for some shark feeding and patting which I managed to do and get a picture to prove it before once again heading out to the Horizontal Falls for another attempt at going through the smaller falls, as we left there was a sea plane heading out and we chased it up Talbot Bay, so much fun..... this time we managed to do both of the falls with at least 5 passes through each of them.
Then it was back into the seaplane and off to One Arm Point where we boarded a 4WD bus and went to have a look at a hatchery that the local people who lived there worked and sold mother of pearl as well as shells that were polished. Our lunch break was at Cape Leveque (called Kooljaman) which was excellent, salmon and salad and then the 4WD bus took us down onto the rocks near the absolutely pristine beach for a walk and wet the toes.
The Buccaneer Archipelago
4WD drive back to Broome via Beagle Bay
Willies Creek Pearl Farm Tour
4WD bus trip back to Broome via Beagle Bay with the interesting Church which is where we stopped for afternoon tea. Finally on to the Kimberley Resort to complete our fabulous day, both Barry & I think it was the best tour we have ever had. Saturday was a day of rest relaxing around the pool and reading and then on Sunday we went into Broome to the Market and a walk around the tourist haunts before catching a bus back to the Resort. Monday saw us do a tour up to Willie Creek Pearl Farm where there was a very informative talk on how the pearls are harvested as well as a boat ride out to where the pearls are actually in the water, once again we managed to spot a crocodile sunning himself on the opposite shore. Tuesday we went into Broome once again and this time did a tour at the Pearl Luggers where I managed to get my first beautiful Australian Pearl, very happy, then over to Matsos Brewery for a "taster" as well as a lovely lunch. Wednesday morning we flew out of Broome and home after a fabulous week.
